In this article, we would like to introduce a remodeling project commissioned by a client: coat storage with a built-in bench.
📍Before Remodeling: Existing Entryway Storage Space
• This was originally a space with built-in storage shelves and doors.
• The shelves inside the storage area had been removed, and the photos show the space during the dismantling process.
• To make use of the existing structure, we carefully dismantled and reinforced the area.
🪑Remodeling Details: Updated into Coat Storage with a Bench
• Custom-built bench and box: We created a custom box and seat that fit perfectly within the size of the existing storage frame.
• Also functions as storage: By using a box structure under the bench, we secured strength while creating an efficient design with no wasted space.
• Shelf board added at the ceiling area: A shelf was installed at the top, making it possible to place basket storage and other items.
• Fabric bench as an accent: A bright yellow fabric was used for the seat, adding a cheerful accent to the space.
👤Custom Built-In Furniture Reflecting the Client’s Requests
• We responded to the client’s request for “a small place to sit” in the entryway, useful when putting on or taking off shoes or temporarily placing bags.
• The finished piece fits naturally into the space and has a smart, refined appearance.
• The comfort and beauty that come from custom built-in furniture designed to fit the space were successfully achieved.

Based on the traditional production process of Yokohama furniture, which has continued for more than 100 years, he continues to explore new designs using materials such as iron, leather, and glass while engaging in woodworking every day.
