1. Background of the Request
We received a request for wall storage that would serve both as a study space for the client’s child and a PC workspace for the husband’s remote work.
Within the limited space, we proceeded with the design through repeated meetings, aiming to balance “work,” “storage,” and “visual beauty.”

2. Size and Specifications
【Size】
Back wall storage: W3100 × D500 × H2300
Right counter: W1660 × D500 × H720
Materials: Solid walnut / walnut veneer
This configuration integrates large-capacity storage that makes use of an entire wall with an L-shaped counter.
It is a substantial piece of built-in furniture that combines storage capacity with work functionality.

3. Design Focus — Rift-Sawn Walnut
Rift-sawn walnut was used for the veneer.
The orderly flow of the wood grain both vertically and horizontally creates a simple and beautiful expression.
By eliminating unnecessary decoration and using a design based on straight lines, the quality of the material stands out even more.

4. Design Ideas to Reduce a Sense of Pressure
Although this is wall storage with a height of 2300 mm, design measures were used to keep it from feeling overwhelming.
・Depth set to the minimum necessary
・Structure without a back panel, allowing the wall surface to remain visible
・Grid design that makes use of open shelf spaces
As a result, even though it is large furniture, it blends naturally into the space.

5. Layout Integrating Desk and Storage
The center section serves as a PC workspace, while the right side provides a spacious desk area with an L-shaped counter.
It is designed so that parent and child can use it side by side, creating a functional layout where remote work and study can take place in the same space.
The lower section features door storage, allowing necessary items to be stored neatly while reducing a lived-in appearance.

6. Storage Image and Changes in Daily Living
When books and small items are arranged on it, the wall becomes a space that feels almost like a library.
The calm color tone of walnut creates an intelligent and warm atmosphere.
Although it is “storage furniture,” this custom-built wall storage also becomes the centerpiece of the space.
Because it was designed to suit the client’s lifestyle, it became a one-of-a-kind work and library space.
