This project showcases a custom floor-to-ceiling display wall unit with integrated TV storage, designed for a kindergarten in Yamato, Kanagawa. Combining display shelving, media storage, and warm natural materials, it creates a functional and welcoming learning environment for children.

Young children spend much of their day in kindergarten, making it important to create spaces that are both practical and inviting. This custom wall unit combines full-height storage with dimmable LED downlights, allowing books, plants, seasonal decorations, and educational displays to be beautifully showcased while maintaining a warm, comfortable atmosphere.

As part of the same project, we also created a matching front-facing children’s book display (featured on a separate page). Together, these custom-built pieces provide an organized, attractive environment that encourages reading while supporting everyday classroom activities.

1. A Large Display Wall That Makes Full Use of the Space

This custom wall unit spans approximately 4 meters across the room, making full use of the available wall space. The television is positioned at the center, with display and storage shelves arranged symmetrically on both sides to create a clean and balanced appearance.

As shown in the photos, the shelving provides ample space for displaying:

• Indoor plants
• Seasonal decorations
• Decorative accessories
• Children’s artwork

The result is a flexible display area that allows the kindergarten to express its unique character throughout the year.

2. Integrated TV Storage and Built-in Shelving

A dedicated space for a large television was incorporated into the center of the unit, surrounded by practical storage shelves.

Televisions are frequently used in kindergartens for educational videos, presentations, and special events. Integrating the TV into the cabinetry offers several advantages:

• Keeps cables neatly hidden
• Creates a clean, organized appearance
• Maximizes the surrounding storage space

Despite its generous size, the unit maintains an open, uncluttered feel within the room.

3. A Warm Atmosphere Created with Dimmable LED Lighting

Each display section is illuminated with dimmable LED downlights, allowing the lighting level to be adjusted for different activities throughout the day.
