Custom Wooden Conference Table | Organic Amoeba-Inspired & Wave-Shaped Design That Encourages Communication
Custom Large Conference Table with an Organic Wave-Shaped Design
Custom Furniture, Doors, Built-ins, Repurposing, Repair & Maintenance | OJIKI Workshop
This project showcases a custom-made large conference table designed for a corporate client to be used in a meeting and conference room.
A conference room is where ideas are shared, decisions are made, and collaboration takes place. It is one of the most important spaces in any office.
Rather than choosing a standard conference table, our client wanted a unique piece of furniture that would reflect the company’s identity and create a welcoming environment.
In this project, we designed and handcrafted a large custom conference table with an organic amoeba-inspired wave-shaped design. Working closely with the architect throughout the design process, we created a one-of-a-kind table that combines striking aesthetics with everyday functionality.

1. Designing a Custom Conference Table from the Ground Up
This project involved the creation of a large custom conference table for a meeting room.
Because the required size and shape could not be achieved with off-the-shelf furniture, we collaborated closely with the project’s architect to develop the design from scratch.

Our planning considered far more than just the table’s dimensions. We carefully evaluated how the space would actually be used, including:
• Seating positions for each participant
• Comfortable circulation around the table
• Balance within the meeting room
• The overall visual impression of the space

Custom furniture makes it possible to create pieces that perfectly match both the office layout and the way people work.
What Custom Furniture Makes Possible
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Design | Original organic amoeba-inspired and wave-shaped form |
| Size | Built to perfectly fit the installation space |
| Purpose | Meetings, collaboration, and communication |
| Highlights | Combines distinctive design with everyday practicality |
2. The Thought Behind the Organic Wave-Shaped Design
The most distinctive feature of this table is its flowing, organic silhouette inspired by the natural curves of an amoeba.

Unlike a traditional rectangular conference table, the gentle curves naturally create comfortable spacing between participants while encouraging face-to-face communication.
At the time of the project, maintaining appropriate social distancing was also an important design consideration, so the seating layout was carefully planned to provide comfortable spacing.
The curved design also offers several additional benefits:
• Creates a softer, more inviting atmosphere
• Reduces the visual heaviness of a large table
• Improves eye contact between participants
• Encourages natural conversation and collaboration
As shown in the photographs, the unique shape brightens the office interior and creates a friendly, welcoming environment.

3. A Large Conference Table with the Warmth of Natural Wood
The tabletop was crafted from laminated solid wood with a light, attractive grain that brings warmth and character to the office.
Although designed for a professional workspace, the natural wood creates a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
Each edge was carefully shaped and finished by hand, emphasizing the flowing curves while providing a smooth, pleasant feel.
The table legs were designed to match the tabletop, giving this large conference table a surprisingly light and elegant appearance.
Combined with the greenery placed throughout the office, the natural wood contributes to a calm and welcoming workspace.

4. The Flexibility of Custom Furniture Design
The greatest advantage of custom furniture is not simply choosing your preferred shape.
Every aspect can be tailored to suit the number of users, the room size, traffic flow, and daily work style.
For a conference table like this, details such as the following can all be customized:
• Table size based on seating capacity
• Degree of curvature
• Table height
• Leg placement
• Overall balance within the room
This level of flexibility allows every business to create furniture that truly reflects the way its team works.
