3. Flexibility for Different Situations
4. The Appeal of Oak and the Difference Between Solid Wood and Veneer
5. Ease of Use Found in the Details
A dining table is furniture at the center of everyday life, used not only for meals but also for family time and daily tasks.
That is why both “visual beauty” and “ease of use” are important.
At first glance, this table looks simple, but it is filled with thoughtful details that reduce small everyday stresses.
1. Design That Makes Use of Existing Furniture
This table was designed so it could be used together with the sideboard the client already owned.
Rather than simply adding new furniture, the design was based on the idea of “how to make the most of the furniture already in the room.”
As a result, it blends naturally into the space without feeling out of place, creating a finish that looks as if it had originally been part of a set.

2. Storage Ideas That Do Not Disrupt the Appearance
Storage spaces were added on all four sides of the table, making it easy to neatly store small items used every day.
Because remote controls and small items can be quickly put away, the tabletop can be kept clean at all times.
The storage features can be summarized as follows.

Neat appearance because the storage is hard to see from the outside |
This is a design that is pleasing for everyday use: easy to use, yet simple in appearance.

3. Flexibility for Different Situations
Leg joints were used for the legs, making them easy to remove.
The table can normally be used together with the sideboard, while also being used independently when needed.

In addition, an iron flat bar is built into the underside, allowing storage options to be expanded by attaching magnetic hooks.

The functional features can be summarized as follows.

4. The Appeal of Oak and the Difference Between Solid Wood and Veneer
This table uses both solid oak and oak veneer in a well-balanced way.
Oak is known for its clear, beautiful wood grain and calm color tone, adding natural warmth to the space.
Solid wood and veneer each have different advantages.
|
Type |
Characteristics |
Benefits |
|---|---|---|
|
Solid Wood |
Uses the wood itself |
High strength / Allows you to enjoy changes over time |
|
Veneer |
Thinly sliced wood applied to a surface |
Less likely to warp / Provides a stable finish |
The “texture” of solid wood and the “stability” of veneer.
By making use of the strengths of each, both appearance and usability are achieved.

5. Ease of Use Found in the Details
As you can see from the photos, even the small details have been carefully crafted.
The corners of the tabletop were finished to feel comfortable to the touch, with consideration given to the parts touched in daily use.
The hardware and hooks are also simple and intuitive to use.
Even without any special operation, the design naturally feels convenient.
The accumulation of these details leads to furniture that remains easy to use for many years.

◎Size and Specifications
Size: W1600 × D800 × H770
Materials: Oak veneer / Solid oak
Structure: Leg joint specification
Other: Built-in flat bar
This is a spacious size that is easy for the whole family to use.
Furniture that is carefully designed not only for visual beauty, but also for “how it will be used,” can greatly change everyday living.
As in this project, by making use of existing furniture while adding new functions, it is possible to create a comfortable space without forcing anything into the room.
Storage, usability, and design.
For those who want to balance all of these elements, custom-made furniture is a highly recommended choice.
At OJIKI Workshop, we handle not only custom-made furniture and architectural woodwork, but also a wide range of repair and maintenance services, including restoration of high-gloss painted finishes on well-used furniture and the revival of antique furniture.
