1. Beautiful striped wood grain unique to sapele

This time, we would like to introduce a custom-made dining table using sapele wood.

Sapele is also known as “sapele mahogany,” and it is a wood admired for its reddish tone similar to mahogany and its elegant luster. As you can see from the photos, the tabletop shows a clear striped grain pattern, and its expression changes depending on the viewing angle and how the light hits it.
Although it is a natural wood pattern, it also has a somewhat orderly impression, bringing calmness and a refined sense of luxury to the space. The fact that sapele is sometimes used not only for furniture but also for musical instruments also shows its high appeal as a material, beyond just its beautiful appearance.

Especially on a large tabletop, the flow of the wood grain appears dynamic, allowing you to fully enjoy the beauty unique to sapele.

2. A spacious large size of L2000 × W1000

This table was made in a generous size of 2000 mm long, 1000 mm wide, and 720 mm high.

Because it is larger than a typical dining table, it is easy to use comfortably not only for family meals, but also when guests visit. Even when paired with multiple chairs as shown in the photos, it does not feel cramped, and the spacious tabletop can be used for dining or various tasks.
In addition to meals, it can be useful in many everyday situations, such as computer work, meetings, writing, or as a study space for children.

3. Clean design without an apron, making chairs easier to tuck in

A major feature of this table is its apronless design.
*An apron is a horizontal structural member attached under the tabletop.

An apron helps support the structure, but it can sometimes interfere with chair arms or legs. Since this table has no apron, dining chairs with arms, like the ones shown in the photos, can be neatly tucked under the table. Armchairs are comfortable and less tiring even when sitting for long periods, but depending on the table design, the armrests may hit the underside and prevent the chair from sliding in fully. With an apronless table, chairs are easier to move in and out, and the overall appearance remains clean.

Because this is furniture used every day, these small differences in ease of use are important.

4. A refined presence suitable for both dining and work spaces

The finished table blends well with the wooden doors, window frames, and natural flooring, creating a calm atmosphere. The reddish tone of the sapele wood becomes a pleasant accent against the white walls and bright floor. In addition, the combination of the wide tabletop and simple legs gives the table a solid presence while keeping it from feeling visually heavy, allowing it to blend naturally into the space.

It is well suited not only as a dining table, but also as a meeting table for a shop or office, or as a work table. Because of its simple form, another appealing point is that its atmosphere can change depending on the chairs and space it is paired with.

Summary

For a dining table used every day, not only visual beauty but also comfort, how well chairs fit, and harmony with the space are all important.
