A sophisticated urban hair salon has opened in Ikebukuro. The interior design, where monochrome tones harmonize with soft textures, offers guests a special moment away from everyday life. In this article, we will introduce in detail the features and appeal of the custom-made furniture that shapes this beautiful space, including styling stations, the reception counter, shelves, counters, and more, from both functional and design perspectives.

1. The Face of the Space: An Iconic Reception Counter
2. Styling Stations That Combine Design and Functionality
3. Inorganic × Organic: Material Selection That Enhances Texture
4. Display Shelves and Side Counters That Organize the Space
5. Lighting Plan: Beautiful Lighting Effects That Highlight the Furniture
1. The Face of the Space: An Iconic Reception Counter
In the reception area, which determines the salon’s first impression, we installed a custom-made reception counter with a strong presence. The substantial dark gray counter features beautifully rounded corners, creating a sophisticated impression while softening its sense of weight.
Above the counter, a canopy with the white “sand” logo appears to float. By incorporating indirect lighting, it creates a light and airy impression, as if suspended in midair, warmly welcoming guests into the space.

2. Styling Stations That Combine Design and Functionality
The styling stations lined up in the treatment area feature an impressive arched mirror design.
◎ Arched mirrors
Built-in backlighting casts a soft glow, making guests’ complexions appear brighter and healthier.
◎ Minimal shelves
A slim counter is placed at the center of each mirror for small items needed during treatments. Its thin design does not obstruct the view or reduce the spacious feel of the room.
◎ Outlet placement
Power outlets are positioned at the feet and sides with the stylists’ workflow in mind. They are carefully arranged so as not to compromise the beauty of the space.
| Design Element | Feature |
|---|---|
| Gray tones | Create a calm and luxurious atmosphere |
| Indirect lighting | Adds depth and softness to the space |
| Curved design | Gives a gentle and refined impression |
| Mirror lighting | Brightly and elegantly enhances the styling stations |

3. Inorganic × Organic: Material Selection That Enhances Texture
The appeal of this space lies in the exquisite balance created by combining different textures.
| Item | Textures and Materials Used | Effect on the Space |
|---|---|---|
| Main fixtures | Metallic dark gray Painted finishes, decorative panels, and similar materials |
Creates an urban and cool impression. Gives the entire space a professional and sophisticated atmosphere. |
| Walls and columns | Concrete-like finish Mortar-style texture |
Adds depth and expression while maintaining an inorganic feel. Enhances the simple and modern impression. |
| Floor | Light gray stone-like finish | Creates a clean impression and makes the space feel brighter. Because the floor color is light, it contributes to a sense of openness. |
| Chairs and rounded fixture sections | Beige and earth tones Rounded forms |
Adds softness to the hard-edged space. Creates a sense of relaxation and comfort, enhancing the overall atmosphere. |

4. Display Shelves and Side Counters That Organize the Space
Display shelves that make effective use of the wall space are installed along the wall.
◎ Display shelves
Thin shelf boards were used so that the products themselves become the focal point. By emphasizing horizontal lines, the shelves create a sense of depth.
◎ Side counters
In waiting areas, counseling spaces, and unused wall-side spaces along the walkway, simple counters were installed as if integrated with the wall. They serve multiple purposes, such as temporarily placing personal belongings or serving drinks.

5. Lighting Plan: Beautiful Lighting Effects That Highlight the Furniture
What brings out the details of the furniture is a carefully calculated lighting plan.
The “floating light” effect created by indirect lighting from beneath the counter and around the edges of the arched mirrors makes the substantial furniture appear lighter while giving depth to the entire space. The combination of ceiling downlights and lines of light built into the fixtures creates a dimensional and dramatic interior.

Summary
Although located in the vibrant city of Ikebukuro, this salon offers a calm and refined atmosphere the moment guests step inside. Each custom-made counter and styling station is designed with both guest comfort and staff usability in mind.
More than simply a place to have one’s hair styled, the space itself becomes part of the value of the experience. It is truly a next-generation hair salon interior where design and function blend seamlessly.
