This project showcases a custom open-frame loft staircase installed in the living room of a newly built home in Fujisawa, Kanagawa.

We were commissioned to design and build a custom staircase leading to the loft of a newly constructed home.

Before beginning the design, we discussed the overall concept of the living room and reviewed the furniture planned for the space. Based on this information, we proposed an open steel-frame staircase that would preserve the spacious, airy feel of the interior.

The staircase combines a slim steel structure with solid ash treads, creating a clean, contemporary design that complements modern living spaces while providing the warmth of natural wood.

The open-riser construction allows light to flow through the staircase, helping maintain an open and inviting atmosphere throughout the room.
