This project showcases a pair of custom outdoor deck tables crafted from Afzelia and Ulin wood for a residential deck.

Materials: Afzelia / Ulin (Ironwood)
Large Table: W2800 × D1200 × H720 mm
Small Table: W1200 × D1200 × H720 mm

These outdoor tables were commissioned through an architectural firm and designed specifically for use on an exterior deck.

Originally, the entire tables were planned to be made from Ulin (Ironwood), a tropical hardwood renowned for its exceptional durability and weather resistance. However, because Ulin can develop splinters over time, we selected Afzelia for the tabletops instead.

Afzelia offers excellent outdoor durability while remaining smooth even after years of use, producing very few splinters. For this reason, it is often used in environments such as nursery schools, where children may walk barefoot safely.

By combining the strengths of both wood species, we created outdoor tables that are durable, comfortable to use, and built to withstand the elements for many years.

At OJIKI Workshop, we handle not only custom-made furniture and architectural woodwork, but also a wide range of repair and maintenance services, including restoration of high-gloss painted finishes on well-used furniture and the revival of antique furniture.
