Repair & Restoration | Refinishing and Maintenance of a Large Japanese Horse Chestnut (Tochi) Live-Edge Dining Table
Refinishing and Maintenance of a Solid Japanese Horse Chestnut (Tochi) Live-Edge Dining Table
Custom Furniture, Architectural Woodwork, Built-In Fixtures, Remodeling, Repair & Maintenance by OJIKI Workshop
This project features the refinishing of a large solid Japanese horse chestnut (Tochi) dining table that had been used for many years. The customer wanted to restore its beauty so it could continue to be enjoyed for many years to come, despite the scratches and signs of wear that had accumulated over time.
The finish of this solid live-edge Japanese horse chestnut dining table was completely refinished.
The tabletop had become sticky, and areas where the finish had peeled away had developed noticeable stains and discoloration.
After carefully planing the entire surface to remove the old finish and create a smooth, even surface, the table was refinished with a semi-gloss urethane coating (approximately 30% gloss), restoring both its beauty and durability.
At OJIKI Workshop, we handle not only custom-made furniture and architectural woodwork, but also a wide range of repair and maintenance services, including restoration of high-gloss painted finishes on well-used furniture and the revival of antique furniture.
