OJIKI Custom Furniture & Woodwork

OJIKI Vision

In recent years, Japan has often been described as a society of overconsumption.
This is also true in the world of furniture, where many items are now purchased with the assumption that they will eventually be discarded.

When these items are no longer needed, they are often incinerated after disposal, releasing CO₂ into the atmosphere. This process is said to contribute to climate change, including global warming.
The wooden products we manufacture are no exception. We believe that the large amount of waste generated during the production of wooden products can also be considered one of the factors contributing to global warming.

Considering the environmental impact caused by economic activities based on disposability, we believe it is necessary to rethink how we make things—and to take action—in order to pass a better future on to the next generation.

At OJIKI, we approach this challenge through the following efforts:
・Developing manufacturing methods that minimize waste during the production of wooden products
・Exploring the use of recycled and reclaimed materials, with a focus on wood
・Reducing disposal by offering remodeling and repair services for aging products

In addition, based on this vision, OJIKI is committed every day to creating products and providing services that generate as little waste as possible:
・Prioritizing the production of wooden furniture and architectural woodwork designed for long-term use
・Crafting each piece so that it becomes a truly special, one-of-a-kind item for customers who purchase, repair, or remodel furniture with us—pieces they will want to continue using for many years to come

About Furniture & Architectural Woodwork Production

At OJIKI, we primarily offer three services: custom-made production, repair, and remodeling.
All furniture and architectural woodwork are produced on a made-to-order basis.
For this reason, it generally takes approximately one to two months from the initial inquiry to final delivery.
We appreciate your understanding.

Production Process

1) We begin by discussing your requirements, room layout, and interior design preferences.
2)Based on this information, we propose the design and dimensions of the furniture or woodwork, along with material selection, color, and finish.
3)Once you approve the proposed details, the order is finalized. Production then begins, and the piece is completed and delivered after several weeks.

Types of Wood Used

For our production, we mainly use Japanese oak.
At OJIKI Workshop, we work with a wide variety of wood species from both Japan and abroad.
Based on your preferences and interior design, we carefully select the most suitable domestic or international wood species for each project.

In addition to wood, we can also incorporate materials such as glass and steel.
Please feel free to let us know if you have any specific material requests.

Finishing

Depending on the installation location and intended use, we select the most appropriate finishing method, including natural oil finishes, lacquer, urethane, and shellac (classic finish).
Each piece is carefully finished to ensure both beauty and durability.
